Learn how to set up the AI Agent

To get set up with AI, you need to train the AI model by syncing your store. You also need to add it to your theme and customize the way that the chat overlay appears on your store.

You can create product rules, adjust chat tone, and language to further customize the AI Agent.

Syncing your store and training the AI Agent

Initial store sync

You need to let AI Agent sync your store to learn about your products and pages so that it can make intelligent product recommendations to your customers.

Steps:

  1. From the AI Agent dashboard, under Train AI, click Sync store.

Syncs happen automatically every 3 days.

Demo mode

By default, when you first access AI Agent, you're in demo mode. When you're in demo mode, AI Agent can only be added to a draft (unpublished) theme. Customers won’t see it until you launch.

Customizing and styling AI agent

Part 1: Select a theme to apply AI Agent to

AI Agent functions as an app in your theme, so you need to choose a theme to add it to before you can start customizing and styling its appearance.

  1. From the AI Agent dashboard, under Style customization,

  2. In the Select Theme step, from the drop-down menu, choose one of your existing store themes to apply AI Agent to.

Part 2: Customize the slide-out chat

Next, you can customize the appearance of the chat drawer that slides out on your storefront.

  1. Under Style chat widget, click Customize to launch your theme editor. From here you can:

    1. Toggle the AI Agent or the floating button on or off

    2. Disable the widget's icon while you customize

    3. Adjust colors, pop out widget text and fonts

    4. Choose between rounded, square, or pill-style chat

    5. Upload a header logo

    6. Change, show or hide the chat widget icon

  2. Save your changes. This makes the chat agent live if you have it enabled.

Part 3: Customize the product page prompts

Next you can add the question marquee banner to your product pages. This banner scrolls on the product page and acts as suggested questions customers might ask.

  • Under Product page widget, click + Add block to launch your theme editor on a product page. From here you can:

    • Locate where the AI Agent Chat block is and move it up or down to place it anywhere in your theme template

  • Save your changes. These changes will be live if you have the widget enabled.


AI Agent behavior

Product rules

Under the Product rules section of the AI Agent dashboard, you can control which products AI Agent can recommend. In the Product rules section, click the drop-down arrow to expand the options in this section.

Maximum products

In the Maximum products section, you can set the maximum number of products that AI Agent can suggest in a single response.

Click and drag the slider to increase or decrease the maximum number of products.

Excluded products

In the Excluded Products section, you can select any products you don’t want included in recommendations.

Click in the Search products text box to search for and select which products you want to exclude.

You can also check Exclude out of stock products if you don't want AI Agent to recommend anything out of stock.


Chat tone

You can set the communication style of your AI Agent. In the Chat tone section, click the drop-down arrow to expand the options in this section.

For chat tone, you can select one of the following:

  • Friendly – Warm and approachable

  • Casual – Relaxed and conversational

  • Enthusiastic – Energetic and upbeat

  • Professional – Formal and businesslike


Language settings

You can change the language for the AI Agent chat interface.

Steps:

  1. From the AI Agent dashboard, in the Language settings section, click the drop-down arrow to expand the options in this section.

  2. From the drop-down menu, choose the language that you want to apply to the AI Agent.

  3. Click Save.
